Inefficiencies in molecular testing can be detrimental to patient care. Removing workflow-related barriers to biomarker testing can have a direct and positive impact on patient selection.

Lean Six Sigma is an approach to laboratory workflow optimization to improve diagnostic testing turnaround time and quality. This series of five modules provides training on how to use Lean Six Sigma workflow optimization to improve these features.

Module 1: Background

This module introduces Lean Six Sigma, examines how inefficiencies in molecular testing can be detrimental to patient care, and provides an example of how it can be applied in a laboratory.

Module 2: Analysis

This module guides you through techniques to deeply understand existing workflows and provides practical steps to successfully initiate Lean Six Sigma projects that drive process optimization.

Module 3: Optimization

This module explores tools and approaches that can be applied to mitigate issues and improve working processes through practical examples.

Module 4: Common challenges to applying Lean Six Sigma

This module highlights common challenges and barriers that may arise when implementing a Lean Six Sigma optimization project and explores prevention and management measures to overcome these barriers.

Module 5: Measuring, maintaining & extending success

The final module in our series focuses on how to measure and disseminate performance metrics. These can help maintain and extend success through continual improvement.
